Boomplay and Sony Music Entertainment Join Forces to Expand in Africa
African music streaming service Boomplay will team up with Sony Music Entertainment (SME) to expand its reach within Africa. The service has over 60 million users with over 10 million songs and videos. The streaming service is available in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.
The company intends to be the largest and most reliable digital music platform for artists (musicians) and content creators in Africa and it hopes its new partnership with SEM will achieve.
Boomplay is currently available in Andriod, iOS and the web.
Chaka Unlocks Investment Opportunities in Nigeria
Global trading platform, Chaka has launched in Nigeria and it intends to allow Nigerian users to invest in stocks listed on NASDAQ, the New York Stock Exchange and the Nigerian Stock Exchange, offering over 4000 assets and indexes from companies such as Apple, Alibaba, Google, and the S&P 500 index.
Chaka hopes to provide opportunities for local investors to explore international markets and diversify their portfolios into African and global capital markets. In addition to this, it will also offer global citizens access to invest in local capital markets with just a click.
FinTech Reshapes Mobile Banking in Nigeria
Paris-based fintech startup, FairMoney, has introduced an in-app payment function for its users, which allows them to top up their phone subscriptions, buy mobile data, pay electricity or internet bills. Other features, such as digital wallet and saving account are scheduled to launch soon.
Launched in 2017, FairMoney started as a mobile app that uses alternative smartphone data to underwrite microcredit in Nigeria. The company reports that more than 200,000 customers use the platform regularly, with a majority focused to finance their small business needs.
